Quoting from the article:
A lawsuit filed by RegisterFly’s parent company, Unified Names, blames the meltdown on misuse of company funds by President and CEO Kevin Medina, who was fired by the company’s board. The suit alleges that Medina spent company funds on liposuction surgery and escort services.

GLP Day 1- Night falls

Once again the HP network equipment that was provided fails to perform adequately. Dantas is on his way to FEUP to get a replacement.

GLP Day 1 - Morning

The IRC server is up and runing, no services though - no point for a 3 day event… dunno if it’s even going to be used.
Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike Source servers are also runing.
At the moment ethernet cables still don’t reach every table but they will soon, there are a bunch of people working on it.

Relax got the wireless network runing which is what I’m using to make this post (via my laptop). I haven’t setup my own PC… I forgot the power cable for my monitor - one of the hazards of everything being plugged into a UPS, I only took one power cable from the cable drawer. Sigh. [...]

Noteworthy stuff I’ve read this weekend (so far):
A morality tale of Perl versus Python (via Rui Carmo)
Flood Waters Can’t Sink Net Link
From Melissa to Zotob: 10 Years of Windows Worms
Exploiting Cisco with FX
Identifying P2P users using traffic analysis
Books:
Mastering FreeBSD and OpenBSD Security (Partial skim)
BSD Hacks

In the past two days my internet connection went down at around the same time (a while after 3am) which prevented me from blogging. Not much to say though. I finished The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. The game is very short but at least didin’t use frustrating hard to defeat bosses to [...]

What’s Old is NeWS Again
Nearly twenty years ago now, the father of the Java programming language spear-headed a rather different idea for its time. GUIs were still in their infancy, but James Gosling and David Rosenthal envisioned a system whereby rich applications could be seamlessly delivered over the low-bandwidth networks of the time. Even better, [...]

Go Go 2Mps

TVTEL my ISP is in the process of updating its services. It’s not official yet but it seems my internet connection is getting bumped from 512 Kbps to 2Mbps. I’ve enjoyed downloading the FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Ubuntu isos at 250KB/s. I just downloaded KDE for Ubuntu just for fun - not like it took long [...]
